An all-CG short is a tough thing to do, and Mike Kane pulls it off. A fairly stylish opening title takes us to the Death Star. I kind of like the documentary-style place and time identification. And darned if those stormtroopers don't look cool, though their walk is a little oversmooth. It looks like they're on ice skates.

Ooh, Boba Fett's introduction. Great way to introduce a character. And he looks good.

Still, though, all the animation is slow, oversmooth, a dead giveaway for CGI. Has Boba had antigravity filters installed?

The red light cast on him is a quality visual, though. The lighting—digital lighting, mind you—in this film is always good. Watch the reflections on things like shoulder pads or joints in armor.

We get a really cool explosion, followed by more slow-motion falling. Maybe this can be seen as a stylistic device, meant to emphasize the, uh, wait, oh, holy crap, Vader.

It's a fanboy's dream come to life. Vader vs. Boba. And I like that it isn't flashy—that would have pushed the envelope without actually looking good. Vader is cold and calculating.

The end credits arrive, and I sort of like the credits music. It's not Star Wars by any means. But it's got attitude. It sounds like something Boba himself might play in his ship as he scoots off.

This is a very interesting concept and nicely done to boot. But I gotta say, it's the only time a film's had pacing problems within individual shots.
