I'm not a fan of The Matrix. And thus this film's been staring at me from the TFN listings for years, and I never touched it.

Today was the day.

I didn't know until now that these are the guys who did the famous lightsaber rotoscoping tutorial we've all seen. Interesting.

I liked the opening, although the font for the title could have been a bit bolder. The appearance of our heroes with the blue streaks looked good. (I like the end credits too. These guys aren't bad with text.)

What follows is an uncomfortably long period of people walking around hallways. And sorry guys, but I don't buy the flatly-matted-on computer screen effect.

But of course it's the fight that counts, right? I'm a huge fan of their location, as well as the smooth camera work. The bullet-time attempts look a little cheap, but the Neo figure's jump is convincing, and the glass shatter is... well, it's not distracting, anyway.

And what's this? Clones of the agent well before Reloaded tried the 'burly brawl' trick.

This film has a lot of interesting effects, some of which have never been done in any fan film before or since. And I admire that. I do.
