Read an interview with co-writer/director/Vader voice John E. Hudgens

review written 2/23/2003

Web compression renders this film difficult to watch, which is a shame; it might be the Z-Team gang's most visually impressive outing. Vader looks wonderful, the graphics are top-notch and the set looks like a winner.

Vader's voice is well-done by director John E. Hudgens, and Heather Harris performs a somewhat thankless role without a hitch. Unfortunately, the call-in voices—meant to be familiar Star Wars characters—do not sound like them at all. And while it is amusing that they got people like Kevin J. Anderson to be in the film, it hurts the mood. (This may be the first case of a fan film casting on the basis of celebrity rather than appropriateness for the role.)

This is a funny film with a flaw or two. I'm glad Lucas got to see it—it's a fine example of what good stuff can come from fan films.
